Tiawannah “ Tia” Calhoun

K-12 Academic Advisor - Hollywood Reservation

I am Tiawannah Calhoun also known as Tia Calhoun, born in West Palm Beach, Florida and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida. I am the oldest of 5 children so setting a great example for my siblings was always a high priority for me in my life.

Later, after attending Florida Atlantic University I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and became a teacher. College prepared me for my career and different life scenarios. Going to college has also motivated my mother to get back into school where she later obtained her GED and is now attending nursing school as a RN.  I have worked as an assistant advisor at Florida Atlantic University, 2nd-4th  grade teacher and team leader for 4 years, taught math for middle and high school students for 2 years, summer youth counselor for 3 years, adjunct professor for Palm Beach State College for summer courses, and now I am the K-12 education advisor for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. As the K-12 education advisor I am here to provide a foundation for students to understand their interests, abilities and challenges. My mission is to put my best foot forward in order to make sure all needs are met academically and socially in the upmost comfortable environment.
