K-12 Advisor

 

Cyntheria Jones is the new K-12 Advisor for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Education Department. As a former employee of The Broward County School District for over 32 years, she joins the department with much enthusiasm, expertise, and a passion for achieving academic excellence. Cyntheria obtained her Master of Science in Educational Leadership K-12 from Nova Southeastern University, Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education 1-6 from Florida Atlantic University, and her diploma from South Plantation High School. She holds both an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Reading K-12 endorsement, in addition to her other certifications.

 

Cyntheria’s career trajectory within the public school system began as a front desk clerical employee. Her journey within the county led to her securing the following positions: Classroom Teacher, Teacher of Adult ESOL, Curriculum Support Facilitator/Reading Coach, Assistant Principal, and School Principal. Cyntheria’s expertise and experience within the district have afforded her opportunities to work with stakeholders from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Her knowledge of the educational system and personal philosophy about education will be instrumental in the department.

 

Ms. Jones is a native of Hollywood, Florida who is passionate about helping others achieve in the field of education. Her desire to assist others fulfill their personal aspirations, inspired Cyntheria to apply for her current position with the education department. Cyntheria holds these truths to be evident: “Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education,” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and “Education is the one thing no one can take away from you,” by Elin Nordegren.

 

Cyntheria is committed to fostering positive relationships with scholars and families, ensuring consistent and effective communication, and working collaboratively with the educational team and tribal community to meet the desired educational outcomes. With this mindset, Cyntheria embodies 4 principles as it relates to meeting the objectives of the advisor’s position:

Progression – Embrace change and make the things that seem impossible; possible!

 

Cyntheria looks forward to being your educational thought partner and advocate to ensure that all educational and career objectives are met. Personal Belief: Life is a journey and can be challenging at times but take along the following core values: TRIP - trust, respect, integrity, and perseverance to navigate the bumps in the road and to guarantee that you succeed in all that you desire to accomplish.

 

Hobbies: Traveling, water-related beach activities, bowling, football, and dining out at the best brunch locations. While Cyntheria has a strong work ethic, she believes that a healthy balance between work and recreation should be evidenced!
