Yvette Payne

K-12 Advisor

Hello everyone,

My name is Yvette Payne and I am your new, excited K-12 Advisor for the Hollywood Reservation. I originally hail from Chicago, Illinois, and I am a huge sports fan. I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Memorial University and a Masters of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I am also the proud parent of a beautiful 17 year old daughter named Kayla. I feel I am a better person overall because of my daughter.

During my past employment, I was privileged to have worn many hats. I was an Autistic teacher, where I had the privilege of helping to shape the lives of students with special needs while encouraging their milestones. I was also a Guidance Counselor at the Middle School level and also at the High School level. It was my responsibility to help them see the choices they had available to them. I was also a Special ED counselor, where I worked with the students with disabilities, enabling them to see their possibilities instead of their circumstances. Furthermore, I was able to show them that they were so much more than the labels that had been placed upon them. Lastly, I was a Crisis Counselor for the entire school. It was my responsibility to facilitate the students, faculty, staff and administration in dealing with difficult situations and to demonstrate to them that they can push through their pain. So, as you can see, I have a huge passion for working with children; and people in general. I am no stranger to being compassionate, working hard and helping solve problems.

I feel so humbled being a part of such a prestigious organization. Since I began my career here with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the people I have encountered have made me feel extremely welcomed and a part of something extraordinary. Together, as a team, I feel we can help the student’s make their dreams become a true reality.

Hobbies:  shopping, sports, traveling, cooking, music, spending time with my daughter, reading and going to church
