CAROL D. WHEELER
Student Transportation Specialist
I am a Center for Student Success and Services (CSSS) employee that is very passionate about my current role and particularly interested in growing with the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s CSSS Department. I feel I have gained significant experience during my tenure as a daycare worker in 1987 and then transitioning to school bus driver in 1994. I then switched into the role of a teacher’s aide in 1997 and have had the opportunity to work with geriatric patients while employed at South Florida State Hospital and also worked with adults with developmental disabilities at The Ann Stork Center.
For a little over seven years now, I have thoroughly enjoyed my current responsibility as the school bus driver for the Seminole Tribe of Florida (STOF). I have always enjoyed and loved working with schoolchildren; as it is such a joy and privilege to be a part of promoting the success of our youth, who will be our future leaders of tomorrow.
I feel what sets this job apart from just being an ordinary “bus driver” position, is that I take immense pleasure in being able to interact with each child on a daily basis as they begin their journey to furthering their educational pursuits. I also try to promote an encouraging rapport with each child’s parent and/or guardian; as I feel my role is a vital component in helping the families to feel at ease as I transport their “precious cargo” to and from school each day. I am especially blessed with the relationships I have cultivated with the families over the past seven years and truly enjoy coming to work each and every day. I LOVE my job and I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity I have been afforded as a contributing member of such a powerful organization.
Hobbies: Take pleasure in listening to all kinds of music and dancing. Played the flute in Middle School and Marched four (4) years for the McArthur Mustangs. Enjoy swimming as well.
