Suné Brandon

Receptionist

My name is Suné (pronounced Sue Nae) which means “Sunny One” or “Bright One” in Japanese.  No, I am not Japanese; my parents just thought the name was unique.  I am a Florida native born in Miami Beach.  However, I spent my formative years in the Bahamas, as my father was an entertainer and at  the tender age of 18 months old, my family packed up and began a new adventure in Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas.  I was also fortunate to spend some of my childhood in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where I attended boarding school with my brothers.  I, therefore, feel justified in calling myself an “Island Girl by Association”.

I have worked in both the public and private sectors for most of my professional career, most recently at Seminole Gaming in the Customer Care Department for over a year and a half.  This new position with The Center for Student Success and Services (CSSS) lets me live out my passion:  giving back to the community and assisting Tribal members further their education so they can achieve their academic and career goals. Having an education changes everything – especially for girls.  An educated girl is more likely to be healthy and stay safe.  She’ll get a good job, choose when she’s ready for marriage and children, and even live longer.  An educated girl can change the course of her life, her children’s lives and the future of her community.  CSSS is doing whatever it takes to ensure that Tribal members have a quality education – it’s their best chance for a bright future.

I take pleasure in collecting skills, as I feel I have done a little bit of everything.  It’s nice to change things up and not do the same thing, but to do something different and push my limits.  For the most part, my position with CSSS does not feel like work, rather it is a heartfelt experience where I feel I can connect with people on a deeper level.  Having an education is the dream of most individuals, and this job helps Tribal members work toward achieving that goal.  I also believe that the difference you make for others will come back to you two-fold.  Life is about opening your heart and making it bigger.  Since I am the “Director of First Impressions”, usually the first and last person you will interact with, I am looking forward to greeting each person as they walk off the elevator into our Department.

Favorite Quote:   “Carry out a random act of kindness with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”  Princess Diana

Hobbies:  Cooking and baking, antique and flea market browsing/shopping, spending quality time with my family and friends, mentoring, scrapbooking, watching TV & movies and playing with my “fur baby” Rory.

The biggest joy in my life, after marriage, a year later was greeting my twin boys. The responsibility of caring for them and molding them into adulthood was overwhelming as well as awesome. More Info
