Morgan Griffin
Tampa Academic Outreach Advisor
Hello, my name is Morgan Griffin. As the Academic Outreach Advisor, I am excited to help Tribal members achieve their educational goals. I was born and raised in New York, but found my home in Florida in 2000. I have lived in Tampa, Pembroke Pines and currently live in St. Petersburg. I am married to an Art Educator and we have a beautiful daughter named Peady Marie.
I attended the University of Tampa and in 2003, I graduated with a degree in Applied Sociology. My education has given me a key to open many doors, but the one that I have been most passionate about has been the education of our youth. As a result, I spent 14 years as an Educator in the public school system in a variety of schools. I have taught Social Sciences in high schools and History in middle school. However, in the last 2 ½ years, I have been a Student Success Coach at a middle school in Tampa. In this role, I was tasked with helping students who struggled with attendance, behavior and course performance. Through that job role, for me, it reinforced that barriers to achieving our goals are not always self-imposed. I have found that with providing a little bit of guidance, students can get on track to meeting and exceeding their goals.
I am passionate about helping people and I would describe myself as a humanist. I enjoy bike riding, the outdoors, reading, art, music and spending time with family.
Quote: “It is the task for the enlightened not only to ascend to learning and see the good, but to be willing to descend again to those prisoners and to share their troubles and honors, whether worth having or not. And this they must do, even with the prospect of death.” Plato, The Allegory of the Cave
