Aaron Tommie
CSSS Advanced Career Development Participant
My name is Aaron Tommie and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Seminole Tribe of Florida (STOF) with excellence. I feel I have a ‘welcomed’ obligation to work for the Tribe, in order to give back to my ancestors for their many sacrifices and to help pave the way for future generations to continue to enhance our Tribe. Over the years, I have worked in various capacities under the Executive Administrative Office’s umbrella and recently transitioned to The Center for Student Success and Services (CSSS). I have had the privilege of having staff members who believed and supported me during my time in college and wholeheartedly believe, that my position will enable me to better serve the tribal members as an education advocate; while they are working towards pursuing and obtaining their GED, vocational/career, undergraduate, and graduate degrees.
It is important to me that tribal members understand the various opportunities that are available to them. With this in mind, I am passionate about the future of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) options that are helping to shape and advance people’s lives globally. I firmly believe that our tribal members can become college graduates and creators of STEM; which will bring about innovative solutions to our tribal communities and society in general. Ultimately, my goal is to provide our tribal members with the exposure and access to educational information; thereby providing them with the proper tools and opportunities to then position themselves to return and become positive role models within our tribal communities for years to come.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations from Gardner-Webb University. By the end of 2020, I will have a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida. I am looking forward to doing all that I possibly can to help make my Tribe better!
